Dear God: Why have you smiled upon Scotland with such great food?
Dude.
In the west of Scotland, in the towns and villages surrounding Glasgow, there is a delicacy available in some of the more discerning fast-food outlets. It’s called the Munchy Box (sometimes just Munch Box) and it’s a sight to behold. The one I bought for this article is a regular-sized one, in a 10″ pizza box for about a fiver, but they can come in 12″ or beyond for eight quid and up.

From "What is a Munchy Box?", a description of an absolutely delicious-looking entree that may, very well, perhaps be better than Rochester's own Garbage Plate.
Unrelatedly: I leave for Des Moines on Sunday at 7am! Roughly.

Dude.
This guy has a pretty spiffy explanation of how complex numbers are truly happy, simple things thanks to a little bit of rotation. I shall now look for opportunities to deploy this newly-found knowledge!
Perhaps I'll play stump-the-wife. She seems like she's 90% asleep, maybe I'll finally win one. Or perhaps not.

Maybe the completely useless hood scoop on the Toyota 4Runner has something to do with its 15 miles per gallon. Bonus: save $6000 and get a full tank of gas!

moe. at Rochester Party In The Park, Corn Hill, Rochester NY, June 12.
Advisory: Entering a period of great rockage
Your calendar ought to have the following FREE and ABSOLUTELY ROCKARIFIC events right in the middle of downtown Rochester major intersections:
- June 12, ~5:30pm: moe. at Party In the Park (Court & Exchange)
- June 14, 7:15pm: Buddhahood at RIJF (Gibbs & East)
- June 20, 9pm: Soulive at RIJF (East & Chestnut)
- June 21, 9pm: Medeski, Martin & Wood at RIJF (East & Alexander)
With the Rochester International Jazz Festival there's undoubtedly countless additional good acts to see; lemme know what you have in your hopper.
Also, this Friday (June 13!) at ~4:30pm we'll be hosting the Anita Sexhour Back-Yard Weekly Gathering of Boozeage. Now moving to the back yard due to warmth! There might be fire if ya'll bring wood, nudge nudge, wink wink.
Scientific American on Detecting Photo Manipulations

Composite images made of pieces from different photographs can display subtle differences in the lighting conditions under which each person or object was originally photographed. Such discrepancies will often go unnoticed by the naked eye.
I found this article from Scientific American rather interesting (all on one page here). Basically, they point out five things that might be a little out-of-whack with faked photos:
- Different light source directions
- Eye shape and position
- Specular highlights
- Cloning
- Color Filter Array fingerprinting
This might be a fascinating read if you've ever had... doubts... about a photograph.

Researchers hope to send an experiment to the International Space Station (ISS) by the middle of the next decade that would pave the way for transcontinental transmission of secret messages encoded using the mysterious quantum property of entanglement.
Mmmm, entanglement.
